The overlay, settled: record left, journey right

Concept C as chosen, with your three changes in: always side by side, Car details permanently on the left, and the tabs moved to the right panel as Journey, Timeline, DealerKit.

Still the one rule underneath: every field has exactly one home. The left side owns the facts and is always there. The right side owns the process, and Timeline and DealerKit swap into that same panel without ever hiding the record.

The Journey, Timeline and DealerKit tabs on the right are clickable. Car details never moves.

What changed from concept C

  • Always side by side, the drawer opens wide enough for the split and will not shrink below it, no stacked fallback on a desktop.
  • Car details is permanent, it is no longer a tab, the left side is always the record whatever the right side shows.
  • The tabs moved to the right panel, Journey, Timeline, DealerKit, so checking the timeline or the DealerKit record never hides the car.

Worth knowing before the build

  • The stepper and money line stay in the header, so where the car is stays visible even on the Timeline or DealerKit tab.
  • Comments stay pinned under both columns, always visible, exactly as agreed originally.
  • On a screen genuinely too narrow for the split, a phone, the right panel stacks under the record, there is no honest alternative there.
