# Shared CompMatch data

Right Drive and Really Easy Car Credit have both agreed (Mark and Steven,
2026-08-25) to let CompMatch, BidBrain's own suggested bid engine, learn
from each other's real buying history, not just their own.

Each file here is one dealership's own export (`share_comps.py --export`,
or the "Sync CompMatch data" button on the cockpit's Run modal), written by
`bidbrain.comp_share.export_comps`. It carries ONLY the fields CompMatch
itself compares: make and model, the real winning price, retail value,
mileage, age, transmission, engine size, condition grade and the sale's own
date (CompMatch only trusts comps recent enough to reflect today's market,
an export without dates contributes nothing). It never carries a
registration, a dealer name beyond the filename itself, a purchase price
breakdown, a margin, or anything else about either business.

This folder is deliberately tracked in the repo (unlike everything under
`data/`, which stays local to each Mac, see `.gitignore`) since sharing this
specific, already-agreed, already-anonymised file is the whole point.

To add or refresh your own dealership's file: set `DEALER_NAME` in your own
`dealer_config.py`, then `python3 share_comps.py --sync` (exports your own
comps, pulls the latest from everyone else, commits and pushes your own
file). `--export` alone just writes the local file without touching git.
